Experience
- Advised a leading European private bank on two consecutive financing transactions in which the loans were guaranteed by the co-founder of a world-renowned technology giant. The first transaction concerns the delivery financing of a Bombardier G7500 business jet, whilst the second transaction concerns the PDP and delivery financing of a Gulfstream G700 business jet.
- Advised major Hong Kong aircraft managers in preparing its standard form Aircraft Management Agreement, and acted for them in various aircraft related transactions, ranging from aircraft management agreements and tripartite agreements in their clients’ financing projects to general commercial agreements and regulatory issues.
- Advised the family office of a high-net-worth individual in respect of a dispute with a manufacturer concerning an inherent defect in the airframe of a Gulfstream G450 private jet.
- Advised on the acquisition and financing of one (1) Gulfstream G650 private jet.
- Advised a leading PRC property developer in the financing of a new Gulfstream G550 business jet. We also advised our client in the set-up of a sale and finance leaseback structure with a leading US lessor, and the subsequent conversion from N-registration to B-registration.
- Advised a leading European bank on the financing of a B-registered Gulfstream G650ER aircraft. In structuring the transaction, our team worked closely with the financier and the tax advisor to address complex PRC tax and custom duty issues and minimize repossession risks.
- Advised a seller in the sale of an Airbus helicopter with yacht landing certificates.
- Advised on several financings for Swiss banks financing Gulfstream and Dassault jets.
Private jet disputes
- Assisted the family office of a high-net-worth individual in respect of a dispute with a manufacturer concerning an inherent defect in the airframe of a Gulfstream G450 private jet. Advised a company in relation to concerns relating to the reliability and safety of a Bombardier Global 5000 private jet following three AOG incidents in quick succession.
- Advised a high-net-worth individual owner of a Cessna Citation Mustang C510 private jet in a dispute with an operator relating to operating costs and income from third-party charters.
- Advised a private-jet charter company in relation to a dispute with insurers concerning the insurance pay-out amount following an accident in which a Cessna Citation 560 XL private jet was adjusted as Total Loss.
