Our aviation disputes team
Stephenson Harwood's international aviation disputes team is recognised across the aviation industry and by its peers as one of the pre-eminent litigation teams for high-value commercial disputes in the aviation sector.
The aviation disputes team, often working closely with our non-contentious aviation finance teams, frequently acts on complex disputes arising out of operating leases and finance leases, including complex redelivery disputes, and disputes and issues arising out of ongoing maintenance and return condition of airframes, engines, landing gears and other parts, both during the term of the lease and following its expiry or termination. These include, for example, advising lessors on events of default, lease terminations, repossessions, export and deregistration, and advising airline lessees on lessor requests and demands, drawdown / reimbursement of maintenance reserves, lessor maintenance and modification contributions, and return of security deposits.
The team has been involved in some of the largest court actions and arbitrations in the UK and abroad in the aviation sector, and forms part of a wider elite international litigation group. Aviation disputes is an important sub-team of the wider Transportation and Trade group at Stephenson Harwood, which is widely recognised as one of the leading global transportation law firms.
"An outstanding team who demonstrate exceptional specialist knowledge of the aviation sector. The team invariably achieves the best outcomes for its clients."
